The word ACT in NursesACT is an acronym for: achieve, care, and teach. These terms represent actions nurses take throughout their careers. Nursing students achieve, practicing nurses care, and nurse educators teach. Of course, the three roles are not mutually exclusive.
Many practicing nurses are also students, educators, or both. As lifelong learners, all nurses are students in a way – even if not enrolled in a formal degree program. Similarly, the role of educator is not limited to nursing faculty. Nurses teach their patients (and each other) every day.
